NC Friends:
Below is a slightly edited announcement from the town manager of Pine Knoll Shores.
It applies to ALL NC coastal property owners. Please see if you can attend.
Please also pass this on to other NC coastal property owners you know.
Insurers are seeking rate increases for homeowner’s insurance in North Carolina that range from a high of 30 percent in coastal counties to a low of 1.2 percent.
The hefty rate increase being sought along the coast fits a long-term pattern that has frustrated and outraged coastal communities that contend the rates homeowners pay already are unjustifiably high. Continue reading
Carolina Journal News Reports
RALEIGH — To many, the race is below the radar, taking a back seat to the presidential and gubernatorial contests in North Carolina. But some say the battle for a state Supreme Court justice seat could be the most important race to be decided by the state’s voters this year.
The reason? The outcome of this race will decide whether the partisan balance will shift toward the Democrats or remain with the Republicans on the officially nonpartisan Supreme Court.
Among other issues, the court will decide whether the legislative and congressional maps set last year by the Republican-led General Assembly are constitutional. If the justices say no, it may take a year or more to draw new maps and complete all the legal challenges to them. The justices may wind up drawing the final maps before the 2014 election, and whether the majority is Democratic or Republican could have a significant effect on the partisan makeup of the General Assembly and the state’s congressional delegation.
The race pits incumbent Republican Justice Paul Newby of Raleigh against Democratic Court of Appeals Judge Sam J. “Jimmy” Ervin IV of Morganton. Continue reading

Discussion on murder of our Ambassador, the two Seals and the American citizen, in Libya and opinions of what was the cause. No one believes it was spontaneous. It was definitely preplanned. Obama’s people are doing a lot of spin to take the heat off Obama and his foreign policies. It was agreed that if our government had listened to what was being said at least three days prior to the storming of the consulate, and if our guards had been armed, this disaster could have been averted.
LUKE KUKULINSKI reported that the phone bank at GOP Headquarters starts tomorrow. Anyone who wants to help make calls, contact JUDY WILGUS.
SUSAN RYNAS said New Bern was having one (phone bank) this weekend. Bethany, who spoke to us recently, has been in contact with KAREN BLOOMFIELD. KAREN stopped by prior to the meeting (she was unable to stay tonight) and dropped off information on making the phone calls that Bethany had talked to us about. The data even included the talk you were supposed to make in conversing with potential voters. Very informative.

BOB asked for a moment of silence in memory of those brave souls who knew they were going to die on Flight 93 but decided to take matters into their own hands and all those other poor souls in the World Trade Center (can’t forget the memory of those bodies jumping from many stories above the sidewalk to avoid the horrible flames) and the Pentagon (all those lives lost, may we never forget). And their families. Silence
HOWARD GARNER commented on the cost of the memorial of Flight 93 and the fact that right after the event the Moose Lodges and Chapters took that as a project and all donated at least $93.00 each, which amounted to at least a million or more in donations, but the people in charge of developing the memorial said they still needed something like $5 million to complete.
HOWARD also reminded everyone about the luncheon/debate Monday at the Sanitary Restaurant, September 17, 11:30 to 2:00 pm featuring candidates for NC Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey and Wayne Goodwin. If you do not already have your reservations, and would like to go, please email ncdoidebate@gmail.com to check if any spaces are still available.

BOB asked what everyone thought of the convention (Republican) last week. Great speeches and speakers. He said he finally broke down and went to see the 2016 movie last week. He is glad he did. It really explained the source of Obama’s anger and the mindset that he had coming out of his early years and the baggage he is carrying. He understands a lot better of where his hatred of the United States is coming from and why he wants to bankrupt us. He saw the movie in Havelock. TOM said it had been carried over in Jacksonville. BOB said he went to the 10:00pm showing last night, got out around midnight, and even that late there were six other people there that late. Usually when he goes to a 10:00pm movie, he is the only one there.
HOWARD said we need to keep our meeting short tonight so we can all get home and see Michelle speak tonight. (laughter) BOB said it is appearing to him that this convention (Democratic) is one angry group. Discussion on which speaker at last week’s Republican convention did the best job. Everyone there had an opinion from Clint Eastwood Continue reading

BOB informed audience that FRED DECKER had $2.00 each raffle tickets for ½ buffalo (meat) for sale to raise money for “Young Marines” for anyone interested.
Discussed the movie ‘2016’ and who had attended so far and their comments. BOB asked if it had changed anybody’s opinion and the response was ‘Yes, even more determined to vote against Obama”. KEN LANG said it did not change your opinion but it sort of explains why Obama does what he does. When you talk to people in their 30s and 40s and you tell them Obama is trying to pull America down, they will ask, ‘why in the world would he do that?’. This movie explains why. Obama does not view America the same way that people who grew up here does. He spent his first 10 years in Indonesia and after that he went to Hawaii, which if you remember, was a possession of the United States at that time. (A colony) The whole basis of this movie is that in Obama’s mind the US has stolen everything from all these other countries (3rd world) and now we need to give it back. One of the things he points out was the money he had given to Brazil and Mexico to drill for oil and in other places other than our territorial waters. The author, Denesh D’Souza, Continue reading

The Moore County TEA Party group was blown away when they saw the crowd. I got a phone call later on the during the day from the Jacksonville Daily News, Jennette Pippett. BOB said he wanted to thank soon-to-be Senator Norm Sanderson and Lady Sanderson for coming and speaking with us tonight. We also have soon-to-be’s Judge Rowe, and Judge McFadyen among our distinguished guests tonight. (Applause) “In case you all missed it, Judge McFadyen’s competition decided to drop out of the race (Applause). That saves Dave’s friends a lot of money. (Laughter)” Someone asked what happened to Smith and why did he drop out of the race. David said they had had a long talk (great conversation) and Kirby felt it just wasn’t in his best interest to stay in the race. He respects everything Kirby had to say to him…he respects his rationale…to be honest with you, if the shoe were on the other foot, he probably would say the same things. He appreciated his candor. It does mean the race changes a little bit, but, said his name is still going to be on the ballot and for that reason we will still have to get the vote out. BOB asked ‘what happens if he gets more votes than you but has dropped out of the race before the election?’ David said, ‘then he will win and tell you all that the people have spoken.’ Therefore we need to get that vote out in November, so something like that will not happen. He did appreciate the article in the News Times. It kinda spelled the situation out a little bit better than he could. If you have not read that article, please go on line and read it there. There was once a group of men who established a fundamental law of the land that allowed the people of their new found country to peaceably assemble and petition their government for a redress of grievances. These founding fathers of that Great nation even went so far as to declare that the government itself could never make a law that would threaten to supplant these protections, which were reserved exclusively for the people. This concept of freedom of assembly and protest was so critical to protecting and preserving the liberty of the people that it was the very first law – the very first Amendment – proposed by the newly elected representatives of These United States of America and came into effect on December 15, 1791.

It’s frightening what just a couple of hundred years of politicking, self serving greed and expediency can do to a nation. Apparently, somewhere along the way, politicians and judges who hold their personal views in higher regard than those laws upon which this nation was founded, have taken it upon themselves to decide what’s best for the American people and that, perhaps, we have a little too much liberty:
A federal appeals court has upheld the creation of no demonstration zones, which prohibit free speech in certain public areas.
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals released a ruling yesterday upholding a lower court’s decision that also declared such zones as being permissible. The opinion was penned by Judge Dennis Jacobs on behalf of a three judge panel that included Judges Pierre Leval and Debra Ann Livingston, two of whom are Republican judges appointed by George H.W. Bush.
The case surrounded an arrest that took place in 2004 when Michael Marcavage of Repent America and Steve Lefemine of Columbia Christians for Life attended the Republican National Convention in Madison Square Garden to address the large number of pro-abortion speakers at the event, including Rudy Giuliani and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
According to court records, the two were standing on the public sidewalk holding signs when they were approached by police. The police officer informed the men that they could not stand in their particular location because it had been marked by officials as being a “no demonstration” zone.
When the men asked where they could go to engage in free speech activity, the officer directed them to a free speech zone located a block away from the entrance of Madison Square Garden. The area, which police had specifically erected for demonstrations, was the only location where expressive activity was allowed to take place during the event. Individuals of varying and opposite opinions were forced to stand together in one consolidated and caged area, which included a stage with a microphone.
Marcavage and Lefemine complied by walking away from the area alongside the officers and toward the zone that the NYPD had established. As they walked and were questioning the police about the purpose and reasoning behind the zones, they were placed under arrest for not relocating to the area fast enough.
“They took us to an abandoned warehouse where they funneled hundreds of people into cages that they had set up for this purpose,” Marcavage explained. “They treated us like cattle.”
(source)
Only those who agree with the message being delivered at a particular political or public event are now authorized to assemble in or around these areas. Anyone else is relegated to the cattle cages out of view of the public, the media and the officials at whom their protest or grievance is directed.
These zones are the very antithesis of free speech.
And it’s not just judges ruling by decree that are stripping us of our right to assemble and protest. In fact, the 1st Amendment itself has been, per recent Congressional action, overridden by a new law that was passed earlier this year. The Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act now allows national and local authorities to declare any venue they so choose as an “event of national significance,” at which point anyone who is found to be demonstrating in those areas can be charged under Federal criminal statutes.
Congress Criminalizes the Right to Free Assembly; Strips Basic Protections of First Amendment:
The new legislation allows prosecutors to charge anyone who enters a building without permission or with the intent to disrupt a government function with a federal offense if Secret Service is on the scene.
…
It’s not just the president who would be spared from protesters, either.
Covered under the bill is any person protected by the Secret Service. Although such protection isn’t extended to just everybody, making it a federal offense to even accidently disrupt an event attended by a person with such status essentially crushes whatever currently remains of the right to assemble and peacefully protest.
…
In the text of the act, the law is allowed to be used against anyone who knowingly enters or remains in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority to do so…
…
Under that verbiage, that means a peaceful protest outside a candidate’s concession speech would be a federal offense…
With the definitions for “domestic terrorism” now taking on a broad scope and encompassing almost any activity deemed as such by the Department of Homeland Security and federal authorities, it is only a matter of time before peaceful demonstrators are not only detained for their criminal terroristic activities, but held indefinitely under US anti-terrorism laws like the National Defense Authorization Act.
That members of our Congress and appointed Federal judges would first create, then uphold, such laws designed to explicitly enact regulations in direct and overt violation of the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights is nothing short of a treasonous action.
It is, by all accounts, a betrayal of the people of this country and of the established laws of the land.

The Crystal Coast Tea Party accepted a request to speak from the controversial Dr. Terry Jones who is running for President of the United States as a write-in candidate. As a non-partisan group, it has been our policy to provide the opportunity to political candidates of all parties to speak. By listening to and asking questions of candidates, we believe that we can thoroughly vet candidates to determine whether they believe in our principles of Limited Government, Fiscal Responsibility, and Free Markets.
After hearing Dr. Jones speak, it is clear that he does not subscribe to our principles, or our values as Americans. We believe that Dr. Jones effort to run as a third party candidate will be detrimental to the election of a conservative candidate in the upcoming Presidential election. We further believe that Dr. Jones’ anti-Muslim campaign is directly responsible for the deaths of US soldiers and NATO forces in Afghanistan as well as numerous Afghan civilians and soldiers. The Crystal Coast Tea Party considers Dr. Jones a totally unacceptable candidate for any political office.
The Crystal Coast Tea Party advised Dr. Jones to withdraw from the 2012 presidential campaign.
Additional Information:
The Crystal Coast Tea Party did not invite Dr. Terry Jones to speak to our group. Neither the CCTPP Executive Committee nor the membership at large contacted Dr. Jones. It is possible that an individual made an initial contact. However, Dr. Jones published an announcement in a local paper that he would be speaking to our group. The Crystal Coast Tea Party did not promote or advertise Dr. Jones‘ appearance, nor did we pay for any promotion or advertising related to his appearance. Any advertising that was done was apparently paid for by Dr. Jones without the review or approval of the Crystal Coast Tea Party. We chose to permit Dr. Jones to speak based on the policy stated above.
No one from the Crystal Coast Tea Party was interviewed by any media regarding Dr. Jones’ appearance, or the details leading up to his appearance.

(Applause) I was in Pennsylvania during the last presidential campaign, taking care of my mom and dad. My dad was dying and all the time I was there I was paying close attention to candidate Obama and when the Joe the Plumber comment came up, I said this man (Obama) is a Marxist. It turns out to be true. This is a very important election for the state and the country. Mr. Sanderson’s prayer spoke to this country’s been blessed by GOD and we need to take it back because one of the messages in our church is we are almost getting to the point of civil disobedience. Dear Friend,
Thank you for contacting me regarding Second Amendment rights. I greatly appreciate your thoughts on this important matter.
As you know, in 2006 the United Nations (UN) began discussions regarding an Arms Trade Treaty. While the United States originally opposed these discussions, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has more recently stated that the United States would support and participate in these talks. In October 2009, the UN adopted, by a vote of 153-1 with the United States in support, a resolution laying out a timetable for negotiations. However, even should a treaty be signed, it would require the approval of two-thirds of the Senate before it would be considered ratified and in effect.
I understand your concerns regarding the protection of Second Amendment rights and I oppose allowing international law to override our constitutional rights. Like you, I support the Second Amendment. My family, like the great state of North Carolina, has a long tradition of hunting and gun ownership, and I take great pride in that heritage. Already during my time in Congress, I have voted on various pieces of legislation that protect Second Amendment rights, including to correct the District of Columbia’s overly-strict firearm regulations in order to protect Second Amendment rights in our nation’s capital.
President Obama has not sent any treaty regarding gun control to the Senate; however, I can assure you I will take your opinions and comments into account as I consider this important issue.

Word got around late Sunday afternoon (after 4:00pm) that the Golden Corral was closing its doors that very day. The T.E.A. Party officers and some of the members spent a good part of Monday trying to find a suitable area to hold our meetings. Ruth asked the Cox’s of Cox’s Restaurant about using their business again (This was the original meeting location for the T.E.A Party – formerly called the Morehead City TEA Party). We had a problem with taking up too much of their parking lot and costing them customers, so we had moved across the street to the Golden Corral. Mr. & Mrs. Cox told us they would be more than glad to have us back, but we still have a problem with the parking; however, they thought if we did not mind walking a little ways, then we could park on the side street (next to the business next door – formerly a pet store). Several other restaurants were tentatively investigated or discussed, but the board decided to go with Cox’s again, until we could have more time to really investigate other areas.

BOB recognized KEN LANG to read a ‘beautiful’ poem “I am Your Flag” that he had gotten from his pastor last Sunday.
I was born on June 14, 1777
I am more than just cloth shaped into a design.
I am the refuge of the world’s oppressed people
I am the silent sentinel of freedom.
I am the inspiration for which American patriots gave their lives and fortunes
I have led your sons into battle from Valley Forge to the bloody jungles of Viet Nam
A word of silence with each of your honored dead to their resting place beneath the silent white Crosses row upon row
I have flown through peace and war, strife and prosperity, and amidst it all
I have been respected.
My red stripe symbolizes the blood spilled in the defense of this glorious nation
My white stripe signifies the burning tears shed by Americans who have lost their sons.
My blue field is indicative of GOD’s heaven under which I fly
My stars are clustered together, unified 50 states as one for GOD and country.
Old glory is my nickname and proudly I wave on high
Honor me, respect me, defend me with your lives and your fortunes
Never let my enemies tear me down from my lofty position, lest I never return.
Keep alight the fires of patriotism
Strive earnestly with the spirit of democracy
Worship eternal GOD and keep His commandments
And I shall remain the bulwark of peace and freedom for all mankind.
Author unknown.
BOB introduced Wes King, who is a field coordinator with American’s for Prosperity. He said “As of two weeks ago, I cover Carteret County all the way down to Brunswick County. I have one of the bigger regions in North Carolina and I am excited to have it. I think that it is important for eastern North Carolina to improve ourselves. There is a reason that people started paying more attention to our area. We have to continue to show people why they are paying attention. He started out in a tobacco patch, which he has certainly paid his dues working in a tobacco patch. And then he served in the military, traveled the world as a federal agent, and now is back farming again. He is an architect from Raleigh. BOB said he thought that we (HOWARD and PEGGY) just liked farmers. HOWARD and PEGGY said we do, they are smart, usually honest and hard working. HOWARD said he believed in the man. Continue reading
